Newark Neighborhoods
Highlights
The city of Newark is known for having a small town feel, even though the population is over 50,000 people.The city is centrally located to shopping, freeways and the Dumbarton bridge. Many of the neighborhoods have beautiful walking trails which back to the Don Edwards Natural Preserve, the Newark Lake or community parks with walking paths. Newark also has the Siliman Recreational Center. The Siliman Center has indoor water slides, a water park, lap pools, basketball courts, gym facility and rental rooms. There are also multiple soccer fields and baseball and softball fields for everyone to enjoy. The city recently added a large dog park with areas for small and large dogs. The city built a new police station and library in 2022 and has plans for updating some of the elementary schools. Residents in the city of Newark love living in the city because of all these reasons and it has not over built. There is less traffic, no over crowding of schools and plenty of open space for residents to explore and enjoy.
The Lake and Rosemont
The gorgeous Lake and Rosemont area is the Pride of Newark. The neighborhood surrounds a wonderful community Lake. The lake has a peaceful and serene walking path surrounding it which is used by the community daily. The neighborhood is split into 2 sides with unique and different characteristics.
The Rosemont area is a charming, tree lined area in the greater Lake Neighborhood. Built between 1963-1965, this section of the Lake was built with 4 different floor plans.There are 3 single story plans and 1 2 story floor plan. The average lot size in Rosemont is approximately 7,500 sq. ft, however there are several extremely large lots, over 13,000 sq. ft. The streets tend to be longer and surround the elementary school. All homes in Rosemont have generous lot sizes and have both large front and back yards.
The Lake homes were built slightly later between 1968-1970. The homes offer a modern design with numerous floor plans. The Lake neighborhood was built in a half circle with the majority of homes on courts which is a dream for many homeowners. The Lake area also has a set of homes built on the island in the middle of the lake. These homes were built in 1975 and are unique to the bay area. You will not find anywhere else that your home is on an island. Vaulted ceilings, large master suites, open floor plans are all design aspects of the island homes.
The Lake & Rosemont are walking distance to restaurants, shopping, coffee & Ardenwood historic park. You can hear the peacocks and pick wild blackberries all summer long!
Cedar Park
Cedar Park is a small home community built in 2018. The community has approximately 75 homes with a unique neighborhood plan. The interior streets are all 2 story homes with smaller lots. The exterior street only has single story homes with lots that are about 5,000 sq. ft. This is unique due to the number of single story homes in a newer community are very rare to find. The streets are not wide, but the builder did put ample parking around the community with plenty of parking spots and full driveways for every home.
Bayshore and Glass Bay
Bayshore and Glass Bay were built between 2016-2018. These homes are built very close to the Dumbarton Bridge in what is considered to be “ Old Town Newark”. This area is split into 2 sides, the Bayshore side and the Glass Bay side. Both offer community parks with large grass areas and play structures for the children to enjoy. Bayshore community includes condo, townhome and single family homes, all built in one area. The neighborhood has walking trails that look out to the gorgeous bay sanctuary which is a bird watchers dream. All homes are 3 stories. They all have lovely master suites including large closets, large master baths and very nice natural light. The living spaces tend to have an open concept with large kitchens and pantries. The community is more condensed, with a large number of homes in a smaller footprint. Many owners love the city living feel, while still being in the suburbs.
Glass Bay is all single family homes. The homes are spacious, have wonderful sized bedrooms and wonderful floor plans. The community has a smaller number of homes, narrow streets and does have some street parking.
Mowry West
If you are looking for a neighborhood with good schools, lovely homes and great location, then look no further.. Mowry West is made up of mostly single story homes with approx. 2000 homes in the neighborhood. The homes have wonderful lot sizes and large wide streets. There is plenty of parking and many homes have been upgraded. The neighborhood is located close to shopping, restaurants freeways and Costco. There are 2 wonderful parks in the neighborhood. Both Birch Grove park and Siliman Center are within this neighborhood. Birch Grove has tennis courts, basketball courts, great play structures and small water fountain for children to enjoy in the summer..
There are 3 developments within Mowry West of newer homes. The developments were very small with less than 15 homes and they were all built in 2000, 2016 and 2022. All homes are over 2000 sq. ft and have lovely design features.
Mowry West also has 2 high density housing communities built in 2016 and 2017. These developments offer condo, townhome and single family homes.
